Longji Rice Terraces in the rain

Even through the mist you can see that the terraced fields go far into the distance.

Although it was wet, visiting the Longji Rice Terraces in the rain was a highlight of our trip to Guilin China. My son’s work schedule constrained when and how long we could travel. So we wound up there for a very short visit during rainy season. On our one day visit to the terraces the weather ranged from misty to pouring.

We visited the Dazhai Village location on a day trip from Guilin city, arranged through Trip Adviser. Most hotels in Guilin can arrange a day trip for you at fairly short notice, but, since we were traveling over a Chinese holiday, we pre-planned the guide service well in advance. The Longji area has a strong dialect so even if you speak Mandarin it is helpful to have a local guide.

My post “Rainy season in Guilin China-day 1” contains some photos of Guilin city from the same trip.
