I was surprised that the butterfly held still while I grabbed my camera and got out on the porch.

I used Raw Therapee for raw conversion and basic edits, Topaz Studio 2 to get a painterly effect, ending with the GIMP for resizing and watermark. I used the workflow described in: Photo processing workflow: preparing photos to use on the web using open-source software.
